Bio
As a typhoon battered the volcanic island of Jeju, South Korea, locals gathered for typhoon parties - impromptu gatherings where people shared resources and waited out the storm together.
Albert, Barry, and Dibby first met at one of these gatherings, bonding over a love of vintage synths, blues guitar, and psychedelic electronic music. Island Hill was formed that night, built on diverse influences and a deep passion for sound exploration.
Their debut album, Strangers In Paradise, released on John Digweed's iconic Bedrock label, marked a defining moment for the trio. With vintage synth textures, Pacific-inspired guitars, and introspective yet powerful lyricism, the album weaved together brooding yet beautiful soundscapes. Remixes from Red Axes and John Digweed himself helped propel Island Hill to a global audience, further solidifying their presence in the electronic music world.
Island Hill continued to expand their creative vision with releases on leading labels such as Multinotes, Flores, Bedrock, and Sanctuary. Their inspired momentum has also led to exciting collaborations with acclaimed artists, including Rigopolar, Panthera Krause, Komilev, Phonique, Marc Gonen, Of Norway, Argia and more, bringing a new dimension to the band’s evolving sound.
