Bio

David Mayer started making electronic music at fourteen on a Korg workstation, after several attempts at conventional instruments failed to hold him. Sampling changed the picture: cassette recordings, underground radio and early encounters with Herbie Hancock opened a route toward rhythm built from fragments. The German producer settled in Berlin in 2004 and became part of the Keinemusik circle, while developing a studio language that balances percussion, low-end pressure and carefully roughened analogue colour. His catalogue reaches from the Burn EP and releases on Keinemusik to collaborations with Nico Stojan, a creative partnership that began in 2014. Recent credits—including “I Am” with Stojan and Tooker, plus remix work for Sol Selectas and Cacao—show that the collaborative instinct is still active. Mayer’s tracks rarely rely on a single dramatic gesture; their character comes from how small sounds lock together and gather physical weight.
