Diego Barrera moves between house, tech house, Afro house and minimal, treating them as different expressions of the same musical interests. The Peruvian DJ and producer began making tracks and DJing in 2012, aged thirteen. Experiences in different club scenes helped shape his approach, while producers such as Marshall Jefferson, Masters at Work and Todd Terry remain important reference points.
His music has appeared on Glasgow Underground, Stripped Down and Kittball. Libertad carries a message of emotional and personal freedom; Who the F is Diego Barrera draws on a less comfortable encounter, turning a dismissive remark into a recorded introduction spoken by a voice actress. Rather than separating those personal ideas from club music, he uses percussion, texture and melody to connect them across his productions.
