Fred Everything’s name began as a practical description. In Quebec’s early-1990s rave circuit, Frédéric Blais played live sets that could move through house, techno, ambient and drum and bass, using an EPS sampler, an SH-101 and a TR-909. He added “Fred” when he stopped hauling the live rig to parties and focused on DJing, but the stylistic openness remained. Since 2005, his Lazy Days label has served both as an outlet for his own deep, musical house and as a small circle for close collaborators. His long partnership with Atjazz—first sparked at a DiY label night in Nottingham in 1998—continued with the eight-track album 8 Days in 2026. Across those phases, Fred’s method has stayed exploratory: he has said he likes to place at least one strange element inside a production and to respond to what a song needs instead of simply stacking ideas.
