Crookers

Mike City

One of the most fascinating artists to re-enter the dance music spotlight in 2016 is Crookers. Now a solo producer/DJ, Francesco ‘Phra’ Barbaglia’s totally surprising and sometimes bonkers music has caught everybody’s attention, from international radio heads, to DJs, to the good folks at the Defected Croatia festival, for whom his set was one of the highlights.   

This single is the follow-up to ‘A Place In My Heart’ featuring Kym Mazelle, a track that in many ways couldn’t be more different, giving ‘Get My Mind Right’ a real element of surprise. Crookers has been forging a really close relationship across the board with Defected; not only appearing at the festival and delivering some incredible tracks but also mixing part of the first ever Defected In The House Croatia album, remixing Anabel Englund’s ‘London Headache’, and has plenty more new material to come too.

‘Get My Mind Right’ is a breath-taking mid-tempo vocal house track featuring vocals by LA-based singer/songwriter Mike City. It takes full advantage of Mike’s emotive, RnB-style voice, with plenty of Crookers’ customary curveballs thrown in. Other-worldly sound effects casually glide over the syncopated bass, making this a really creatively-constructed listening experience, which will stop you in your tracks whenever you hear it.
