Black Motion are currently on an unstoppable upwards trajectory, accomplishing extraordinary things in the relatively short time that Thabo Mabogwane and Bongani Mohosana have been making music and performing together as a duo. In their home country South Africa they made it to #1 with their album ‘Ya Badimo’, which also achieved gold record sales at the end of 2016. For these reasons and more, Defected is very proud to be releasing Black Motion’s ‘Rainbow’ on the label, a breath-taking vocal house record that really is one of a kind, featuring the gorgeous voice of a frequent collaborator of theirs, Xoli M. The record is joined by another single called ‘It’s You’ featuring Miss P, an equally stunning vocal house track that’s beautifully warm and harmonised perfectly. Black Motion’s unique energy comes to life through both productions. Making up the EP are two versions of ‘Rainbow’ by house heroes DJ Spen & Michele Chiavarini, injecting a more direct ‘house’ attitude with 4/4 beats and synths. Only a master like Spen could be trusted to reinvent an untouchable track like this with such blinding results.
