Hjorthage

1. Dear Mr. Foxx

It started with a percussive hit rhythm and a mid bass melody that was a bit off. My friend Hjorthage had made it and I immediately felt his intention and loved the idea. It needed tweaking and a heavy bass and punchy drums, so I started painting the groove and played a dreamy melody over it. It felt good right away, but I spent a couple of months shaping the vibe until I felt it was done. I love this track, and I have been playing it in all of my sets since it was made.

2. Swing Cinema

After a really good gig in Malta in 2019, I woke up and had coffee on a balcony looking out over the sea. In that moment I felt really happy and relaxed, and at the same time I had some groovy rhythms playing in my head. I remembered a movie I had recently watched, called the Illusionist. Circus music with a mysterious vibe suddenly appeared in my head and was mixed with the rhythms that was already there. Then and there the whole track was already finished in my head, so I made a sketch, and later improved it in my studio over the following year. This is probably one of my favorite tracks. It always puts a smile on my face and makes my mind transport to a groovy festival morning.

3. Synchronization

Corona hit the world, and suddenly I felt a need to connect with my friends on a deeper level. I talked to my good friends Pål and Ronja and we organized a weekend with activities at a magical place in Sweden, called Skutesjön. A place in the forest by a lake. No party, just connecting with each other through cooking, sauna, meditation/yoga, conversation and music. We called the event Synchronization. We needed to synchronize with each other and the nature around us. After the weekend I sat in my studio and made this track based on my feelings and experiences from the event. Thoughts of things growing and connecting with each other were stuck in my mind and became this track.

4. Life On Other Planets

After a three day tour around a beautiful area called Tanjung Ringgit in Lombok, Indonesia, this track was made. My friend John showed me and my friend Fredrik the area and it blew my mind. I couldn’t imagine a place I’d rather spend my time. When Fredrik and I got back we hung out on his balcony drinking beer and just felt happy from the whole experience. I started shaping a groove and a beat and I read Fredrik’s vibe, so it kinda feels like we created this one together. It´s a bit of a different vibe in this one compared to my other tracks, but it always makes me feel good and takes me back to the tropical and wonderful vibe of Lombok, a place I will always have in my heart. It’s a happy track and might make you think about if there’s life on other planets… It’s a nice thought in my opinion…
