Montreal’s Mile End Records looks to accomplished producer Maus for their latest release, Sea  Witch. This latest release follows her highly acclaimed Chez Nous mixed CD amd her La Dix EP earlier in the year. Remixes come from Josh Butler – whose ‘Got A Feeling’ topped Beatport’s deep house chart and who currently has a brace of tracks high  up in both the house and deep house charts - and Victor Magro. Over the last 16 years Maus has DJed all over the US, China, Australia and Europe and her sound is infused with influences from all those and more. ‘Sea Witch’ is an expansive and  rubbery house tune that journeys a long way through its course. Full of wide-open space, coloured with serene pads and powered by firm kicks and a light sprinkling of percussion, it’s an emotive trip from start to finish. Tackling the first remix is the fast rising UK talent of Josh Butler, who has popped up on Leeds label Love Not Money, OFF Records and others both solo and in collaboration with the likes of Darius Syrossian. His version of ‘Sea Witch’ is both breezy and balls-y thanks to the interaction between a gritty, grubby bassline and more airy pads. Nice piano chords and swirling vocals help complete the track and it’s just the sort of thing to get people moving in classy ways. New York based Spaniard Victor Magro turns in the final remix and flips it into a long and patient affair with plenty of epic intention and grand pad work. It’s warm and lush and the sort of elongated house track that Âme would weave into one of their sensuous sets. A well formed package from Mile End that offers three distinct versions of one great record.
