Scott created the label after the huge success of his monthly radio show Soulful Evolution which features the hottest new releases from the world of soulful house in a two hour mix.
The show first appeared on YouTube & SoundCloud in November 2011 and over 9000 subscribers later the show is a worldwide institution with soulful house music lovers.

Founded in May, 2023, Category 1 Music isn't exactly the "new kid on the block"! It's both a record label and music publishing company with many years of background and experience in house music, with a special emphasis on creating soulful vocal productions by the genre's most talented artists, producers and remixers.

Initial releases include "Won't Give Up"/George G-Spot Jackson & Ed Ramsey, "Magic Carpet Ride"/Aires Adora & "A New Day"/Ron Carroll. Featuring remixes by Eric Kupper & Dr Packer, these tracks reflect a combination of the highest level of vocal artistry, production talent and remixing skills. Beyond these releases, Category 1 Music has plans for an additional 7 singles for the remainder of 2023 as well as a full-length album featuring multiple artists produced by Ron Carroll. For the future, we plan to continue utilizing the talents of Eric Kupper, Dr Packer and other renowned producers/remixers such as Michael Gray, and David Penn, and great artists such as Jocelyn Brown, Kathy Brown & Shawn Christopher. It's a combination that has been extremely successful in the past and will no doubt produce great floor fillers in the coming years.

Category 1 Music's web site is currently under construction and will go "live" in the Fall of 2023. Our socials are now active so be sure to check us out on a regular basis. We're definitely looking forward to some fun times ahead!

New Generation Records is an Indie House Music label based out of New Jersey USA Started With Mike LaBirt, Larry LaBirt, Larry P.Rauson, Joe Ruvolo, Ricci & Jerry Melillo in 1987 Kevin Oliphant Came on later. We started off with the very Successful DJ's On Vinyl Series which sold thousands of copies we could not keep up with the demand. The first DJ's On Vinyl vol.1 Featuring Larry P Rauson Larry LaBirt "Oh Larry" was played By Legendary DJ Larry Levan. DJ Tony Humphries was an early supporter of our music. We used to bring him reel to reels and he would play them at Zanzibar. Kevin O took over at Zanzibar so we started to bring him Reels to play, that's when he joined the New Generation Records team. New Generation Records has been putting out House music for over 30 years. One of the longest-running Indie House labels In New Jersey That's still putting out new music! "POJI Records is the brainchild of both DJ Pope and DJ Oji. Thus the name, POJI Record. DJ Pope (originally from Chicago) and DJ Oji (originally from New York), first met in Baltimore, MD at Morgan State University. After meeting, they soon discovered that although they were from different places, they both shared much in common. Specifically, speaking they had love music. Even more specific, they both loved House Music.

It was on that day, that a friendship and what would soon become a brotherhood bond was formed. Having both experienced many of the inevitable politics associated with the music industry, combined with the alienated feeling that comes with claiming a new territory, things were not moving a desirable pace. I suppose you could say that this was their "struggle". As a result, Pope and Oji (aka "The Brothers in the Struggle") came to realize that "time waits for no one". If it were to be done, they would have to do it themselves. With that spirit, mentality, and motivation, the duo established POJI Records back in 1993.
From vinyl to digital, the label has released hundreds of tracks crossing all genres in house music. The label has featured some of the industry's biggest names, most talented producers, artists and musicians. POJI Records has not only made a major contribution to the history of Baltimore and DC House Music, but the label has been responsible for introducing many talented, lessor known producers in the states as well as overseas.
POJI Records is now celebrating 26 years of House Music in all genres!
