Established in 1999 and now resembling more of a music media group with the label as its epicentre, the recipe for Defected Records’ success over the last 25 years has been its ability to evolve and adapt within the industry, while maintaining robust cultural values and musical identity. With an online community of over 12 million, Defected was one of the first house labels to embrace digital technologies and continues to be at the forefront of digital innovations, while cultivating a uniquely engaged audience, by far the largest of its kind. 2024 saw Defected expand its offerings with the collaborative Together series, ambitious livestreams, a world tour and limited-edition merch including ‘Defected: 25 Years In The House’, a 320-page hardback offering a “refreshingly candid insight into the moments that have defined the label’s history” - Clash Magazine. Established in 1999 by Simon Dunmore, Defected's first release was Soulsearcher's ‘Can't Get Enough’, which reached No. 5 in the UK singles chart. This early success was followed up with Roger Sanchez's ‘Another Chance’, which hit No. 1 in the UK singles chart in 2001. As well as a number of sister labels including DFTD, Glitterbox Recordings, Classic Music Company, Soulfuric, 4 To The Floor and Stay True Sounds, Defected also owns and manages artist projects and several catalogues of heritage house imprints.

Defected’s catalogue includes the work of artists such as Masters At Work, Honey Dijon, Inner City, Idris Elba, Dennis Ferrer, Marc Kinchen (MK), Sam Divine, Jamie Jones, John Summit, Love Regenerator (Calvin Harris), The Martinez Brothers, Hannah Wants, Duck Sauce, Gorgon City, Girls of the Internet, Peggy Gou and many more. Defected Records

Born from the friendship between Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter, Classic is above all else a “family” label; an assembly of diverse artists who refute convention but share in the motivation to satisfy only their own artistic intentions. Creating a platform to share their left-of-centre house selections with the world, Classic began in 1994 as a vinyl imprint, starting at catalogue #100 and counting backwards to zero. Once at zero, Classic retreated briefly before coming back stronger, wonkier and with extended family in tow. Over the last two years Classic has enjoyed a renaissance of impressive proportions, releasing the debut album from Honey Dijon, new music from Horse Meat Disco, Eli Escobar, Crazy P, DJ Spen and many more. 2018 has seen Classic bring their party people back together for a series of events in Ibiza, Amsterdam and London to showcase the full might of the label’s current roll call.

Ian Bland is the man behind Maison Records , he’s been into the dance scene since '87, when as a clubber he was jacking to the fresh house sounds of Chicago House. !

By 1990 he formed the Legendary rave outfit ‘Dream Frequency’ signed to XL Recordings, had 2 top 40 hits and played in front of a million clubbers over 20 years all over the world !

In the mid 90’s  he went on to form Dancing Divaz , creating many seminal club classics and remixes including Queen, Prince, Alison Limerick and  Paul Oakenfold,Followed

Next up was ‘Quake’ –The day will come and 3 tracks in the Film human traffic , and the trance classic ‘Sanctuary’ under the guise ‘Dejure’ !

Under his current project ‘Hollywood Hills’ Ian recently won the Toolroom remix competition co producing the Mark Knight track ‘Headers and Volleys’ and has had several releases on Maquina Records.

He now feels the time is right to venture into creating his own label Maison records, and his aim is simple , to carry on creating and signing quality House Music !
