Objectiv makes drum and bass with a close ear for the character of a sound. His releases for Dispatch and Sofa Sound connect precise, stripped-back production with a growing appetite for samples, hip-hop influences and the less polished energy of 1990s jump-up. That shift comes into focus on Walk the Talk, a project he described as a move away from the tightly controlled minimalism of his earlier work.
His fascination with detail goes back to repeatedly rewinding tracks to hear a particular bass sound, then trying to understand the synthesis behind it. The challenge has become knowing when to leave an idea alone. In interviews, Objectiv has spoken about trusting his own judgement, living with tracks before asking for feedback and allowing a looser feel into the music. The technical curiosity remains, but it increasingly serves a more instinctive way of writing.
