Alex Bau's techno is informed by a record collection that reaches well beyond the genre. Long sets at his early residency at Bavaria's Libella helped develop his sense of pacing, while Depeche Mode and EBM remained part of his musical world. With Sven Dedek, he produced as Basic Implant and Electric Envoy before building an extensive solo career.
His music has appeared on Chris Liebing's CLR and Technasia's Sino, alongside his own Credo platform. DJ appearances at Tresor, U60311 and Montreal's Aria took that music into markedly different club environments; a 2006 Aria set was released as a mix CD.
Bau treats production and DJing as connected disciplines: the dancefloor informs what he makes, and the studio informs how he plays. His 2023 Credo album Last Album On Earth gave that outlook a longer format, conceived as a record to spend time with rather than simply skip through.
