Under the Polyvinyl name, Uroš Umek returns to the percussion-led, groove-focused side of his techno. The alias is part of a career that began in the early 1990s and includes Recycled Loops and the 1605 imprint. Its recent revival puts raw rhythms and an improvisational production approach back at the centre, with releases such as Mechanically Intensive pairing filtered percussion with a rolling bassline and offbeat synth figures. The music has found a dedicated outlet in 1605 GrooveSector, alongside work by Hertz and other hardgroove producers, while Polyvinyl releases have also appeared on Tronic. This project gives a distinct focus to the rhythmic vocabulary running through Umek’s longer career.
