Red Axes still think like a band, even when the music is made for a club. Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi began playing together in Tel Aviv's post-punk world before turning towards drum machines, disco and house. Guitars, bass and vocals remained part of the arrangement, giving their electronic work a connection to the records and rehearsal rooms that first brought them together.
Their albums provide space to explore that relationship in depth. The Beach Goths appeared through their own Garzen Records, while One More City on fabric Originals returned to the shared pleasure of picking up instruments and jamming. Guests including Clams from Warmduscher and Cole Alexander of Black Lips helped bring its rock-and-club crossover into focus.
Alongside DJ sets and live performances, the duo have released music through Phantasy, Dark Entries and Permanent Vacation. Garzen extends their interests beyond their own productions, giving related artists a home. Their range comes less from switching between separate musical identities than from keeping their band background active inside dance music.
