Mata Jones arrived at production after a decade spent learning what holds a room together. The Italian DJ traces his club path to Mazoom in 2000 and began releasing his own music around 2010, developing a catalogue that moves between house, tech house and minimal rather than treating them as separate territories. Records followed for Deeperfect, VIVa Music, Roush, Lapsus and other independent imprints. The 2023 Love EP for Paradise Music sharpened the collaborative side of that work: across its three tracks, Jones worked once with Mikey V, once solo and once with Alfrenk featuring Mikey V. One of those partnerships continued beyond the EP. Funky, made with Mikey V, returned in multiple remixed forms on Rebirth’s twentieth-anniversary project in 2026, connecting a current catalogue entry with the history of an Italian house label.
