Bio
Dixon files music on his USB sticks by month, not by genre, tempo or key. In a 2023 interview, he said the first two records of a set may be chosen only 15 minutes before he starts, while the middle remains open to the room. That method helps explain why Steffen Berkhahn built his reputation foremost as a DJ rather than through a large solo discography. The Berlin artist co-founded Innervisions with Âme, shaping a catalogue in which A&R, sequencing and visual identity carry as much weight as individual tracks. His recorded output is selective but recognisable: edits of Ane Brun and Henrik Schwarz, versions for Osunlade and The Machine, and the collaborative Where We At with Âme and Henrik Schwarz connect directly to his sets. In 2019, he and Ana Ofak launched Transmoderna, bringing artists, custom technology, light and visuals into an immersive club format designed to shift attention away from the DJ pedestal. Across these roles, context—not genre purity—is Dixon’s central instrument.
