Still young but with experiences in the booth and studio well beyond his years, he has a fine array of tools at his disposal. The aforementioned include many club hits and Dj Weapons. Always refusing to stay in one sonic niche for too long, Huxley – whether working solo or with collaborators – switches up his sound, tries new things and colours outside the lines with every new outing. Not afraid of a big hook or slaying bass line, he is an artist who unites a variety of sounds, styles and scenes with ease, and always proves as fun as he is well informed. As a Dj, Huxley is someone as comfortable headlining a vast festival stage as he is holding down a small and sweaty basement. He does so from Africa to Australia and is the sort of selector who always delivers a slick high impact dose of the good stuff. His youthful looks have adorned the pack-shot cover of Spotify’s hugely populated Electronic Rising playlist not once but twice already, showing he has that mass demographic appeal to the new generation of Spotify clubbers that are fanatical about the dance scene just as much as he is himself.

Patience is a virtue, and it’s one that will reward you greatly when listening to Ed Ed’s new releases on labels like Get Physical, Exploited, Watergate records, Moodmusic and many more….. Building in a considered and engrossing manner, his DJ mixes  will suck you in, spit you out and leave you a sweaty, elated mess.

Bass groove twangs and rasps over a snappy beat, with a minimal approach to the accompaniments opted for at first. Pitched down vocals add a haunting layers, and deep in the mix a droning techno synth rises and falls. Dashes of scintillating melodic scales work their way into the mix, heavily reverberated into the background. Next, a pizzicato style blip riff passes through the track. Stabs pepper the track with more rhythmic intent, their tails extended here and there to draw them out further and deeper. But Sidney Charles in his age of twenty-something already looks into many happy faces, when he enters the decks. Everybody, who understands this love-binding kind of music, has to live the urban movement behind it, the culture that brings people of all kinds together. Exactly these motions are fascinating the young man, born as Sidney Charles Hurricane Vieljans in Hamburg, Germany.

With the age of 15 Sidney Charles discovered the magic of the two black discs spinning on the 1210s. At the beginning Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Breakbeat and Turntablism was Sidney´s medium to express his emotions. Highly delighted and inspirited by the time of late 80s and early 90s, when the movement, accompanied by young culture, began, Sidney Charles was finding the higher BPM-numbers of House & Techno were leading to more inspiration and happiness.

He is not a musician, nor a percussionist. He is a collector. A collector of culture and experiences. The energy and feeling around the music is what makes the difference and letting Sidney Charles not be one of manys.
