About Skif Tafari

Bio

Skif Tafari or his favourite tempo! Over the years of his extensive experience as a DJ, he has continuously immersed himself into countless music scenarios and sound combinations which at some point resulted in willingness to come up with and bring to life his own ideas. This decision became fundamental in launching Taras Kohanovskyi’s project named Skif Tafari. Taras is not only a DJ but also a vinyl enthusiast with an impressive collection of top-notch music of various genres that has been formed for more than two decades. It varies from acid house, breakbeat, late 80’s / early 90’s jungle to contemporary sounding of deep house, microhouse, breaks, dub techno, minimal breakbeat, ragga dub, 2step and d’n’b. During the soundcheck at one of the major music events, Taras once heard an old-school breakbeat piece which stirred his nostalgic feelings and brought him back to the basics. Dusting off his old records and a collection of music samples, he got down to writing new tracks as SKiF TAFARi. Owing to many years of experience and reconsidered look at his favourite rhythms, SKiF TAFARi’s tracks gained high-quality sounding which is highly recognizable and sometimes ironic.
