Bio
Hannes Bieger approaches electronic music as a performer as well as a studio specialist. Based in Berlin, he built a career mixing records for other artists before placing his own productions and hardware-led live shows back at the centre of his work. His background began with electric guitar and bands, then expanded into an enduring fascination with analogue synthesis.
The studio is an instrument in that process. Bieger has described how working with a Moog modular encouraged him to commit to sounds while they were happening: record the performance, make a decision and move forward. That hands-on approach carries into music released by Bedrock, including collaborations with Francesca Lombardo, and into the performances he takes on stage.
His own Elektrons label gives him another way to shape how his work is released. Across engineering, composition and live music, Bieger’s interest is in the relationship between the character of a sound and the feeling it creates, with technical craft serving the music rather than taking its place.
