Bio

Toomy Disco’s first album was literally a bedroom record. In a 2011 interview, Buenos Aires producer Mariano Iliuta described mustard-coloured walls, a lava lamp, vintage synthesizers, drum machines, MIDI controllers and piles of notes surrounding the bed where he made Bedroom Tricks. The collection had begun as a hobby, joined by a deep devotion to disco; his reference points stretched across music from the 1970s to the 1990s, especially Italo disco, funk and soul. “Age of the Jaguar” and early So Sound and Nang material introduced that warm, melodic side, while later work widened into house and techno. The same patient curiosity shapes his DJ practice: in another interview, he explained that he starts selecting music days before a set, repeatedly trimming folders until the sequence feels right. He later founded Deep Base Records as an outlet for Buenos Aires underground music. A broad later catalogue still loops back to those beginnings, including the 2026 So Sound collection Hôtel Voyage, Vol. 2.
