Bio

Purple Music has been putting out house records from Zurich since 1997, and Jamie Lewis, real name Cem Berter, started it. He arrived with a shop behind him: Dee Jay Service in Winterthur, which he ran for seventeen years and which, by his account, drew visiting DJs from abroad and was for a time the only Swiss source for imported American house. He says the label was founded with his wife Manuela, who brought two decades in the music business, and that his long attachment to gospel is why spiritual messages run through his productions. That same year he began a monthly Purple Music night at Zurich's Kaufleuten, and the label works alongside the sister imprints Purple Tracks and Indeependent. Separately, the Swiss producer engineered for Prince at Paisley Park and shared a 2017 Grammy nomination for Hit n Run Phase Two.
