I grew up in Glebe, Sydney... the kind of neighbourhood where music shows up whether you’re looking for it or not. One night in high school, a bunch of mates brought vinyls to a party at my place. They took over the decks and wouldn’t let me near them. Being sidelined in my own living room lit a fuse. I wasn’t heartbroken... I was fired up. I hated feeling powerless, so I made a decision on the spot: I’d learn the craft myself, get better than anyone in that room, and never wait for permission again.
That moment pretty much forged GROJ. What started as stubborn determination turned into a life in electronic music... from bedroom experiments to releases on Afterlife, Fryhide, Traum, and performances at HI Ibiza, OFF Sonar, ADE, MUTEK, and more. I’ve carved out a lane that blends emotional chill-house, breathy indie-dance vocals, and melodic production shaped by years of live sets and storytelling.
I’ve got French roots too... also grew up between the south of France and Grenoble before landing in Montreal as a young man, and now I’m based in Los Angeles, running this strange but perfect Artist-Scientist life.
