Bio

Carbon is the techno project of Hamburg producer Riewert Petersen, built as a live act rather than a conventional DJ alias. Releases on Senso Sounds, Alula Tunes, ToughToys and Jannowitz Records—including “Distant Rising,” “2100” and “Look At Me”—carry that live-minded approach into tightly controlled club arrangements. Heavy drums provide the body of a track, while house-leaning percussion and sharply modelled synth sounds keep it mobile. The format matters as much as the style: Carbon’s material is arranged to be performed and pushed in real time, so even its most exacting sound design retains the forward pull and risk of a live set.
