Bio

Kerri Chandler grew up with the DJ booth almost functioning as a family room. His father Joseph played disco around New Jersey, relatives worked as DJs, and a teenage Chandler watched musicians and engineers in local studios before earning his own club sets. At thirteen he began opening at the Rallye Racquet Club; by the mid-1980s he was a resident at Club America and spent his late nights absorbing Tony Humphries at nearby Zanzibar. Chandler remembers first being stopped by house music when he heard Russ Brown’s “Gotta Find a Way” played from reel-to-reel tape. Decades later, that technology returned in his own performances: his “Spaces and Places” show combined four reel-to-reel machines, live singers, holographic vocalists and venue-specific projection. The continuity is revealing. Chandler’s deep house has always joined physical bass pressure, soulful songwriting and technical curiosity, using new tools to deepen the communal experience rather than replace it.
