His work, encompassing a vast array of original compositions and remixes, reflects a deep engagement with the genre. As a producer, Namvar has demonstrated a nuanced understanding of house music, evident in his albums “Community” (2002) and “Hip Shake Heartache” (2011). These works, released under his Audio Soul Project moniker, reveal his adeptness in blending elements of deep house, disco, and more experimental sounds. His approach to music production emphasizes live performance, inventive synthesis, the use of analog equipment, creative sampling, and sophisticated drum programming, culminating in a sound that is both authentic and resonant. Beyond the studio, Namvar’s influence extends to the dance floor, where he has captivated audiences worldwide with his DJ sets. Over three decades, he has performed at prestigious venues across the globe, showcasing his enduring passion for and mastery of the art of mixing. Namvar’s role as a mentor and advocate within the Chicago music community is also noteworthy. Through his leadership in record labels such as Fresh Meat Records, Gourmet Recordings, and Afterhours, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the musical landscape and supporting emerging talent. In recent years, Namvar’s artistic evolution has continued with new releases on his Fresh Meat label, including EPs like “Simurgh” and “Beginner’s Mind.” His latest tracks, such as “My Desire” and “Love Forward,” stay true to the core principles of garage and house music, underscoring his commitment to the genre’s roots. Namvar, or Audio Soul Project, is not simply a musician but a steward of house music’s rich tradition and an inspiration to both his contemporaries and aspiring artists. His career is a testament to the enduring power and creativity inherent in the music that he represents.

Audio Soul Project

Every artist leaves a mark, and Mihai Popoviciu’s is unmistakable. For almost two decades, the Romanian producer and DJ has crafted a signature style—deep, hypnotic grooves, pinpoint precision, and an energy that commands the dancefloor.
Growing up in Sibiu (Romania), a city far removed from Europe’s electronic epicenters, Mihai’s passion for house and techno was born in isolation. The ‘90s saw London, Berlin, and Ibiza booming with dance music, while he was left scavenging for whatever sounds he could find. “We’d record German TV shows onto cassette and play them on repeat,” he recalls.

With no club scene in sight, Mihai’s DJ dreams seemed like a long shot. “I couldn’t DJ because there were no clubs,” he laughs. But software was within reach, so he made music. Refining his sound track after track, in 2005, his music found a home on International Deejay Gigolo. From there, he became a fixture on labels like Highgrade, Poker Flat, Bondage Music, Berg Audio, and his own imprint, Cyclic, founded in 2012.

Patience and persistence paid off. Once purely a producer, Mihai soon stepped behind the decks, learning the art of DJing on borrowed turntables. His transition from the studio to the club was seamless. Soon, the world took notice. Over the past decade, Mihai Popoviciu has solidified his status as a leading figure in the electronic music scene. Now, his name graces the lineups of the most revered clubs and festivals worldwide.

Mihai’s mission is simple: to share the joy and energy that fuel his passion. “Seeing people dance, smile, and lose themselves in the music—that’s what it’s all about.”

Whether commanding an underground club or a festival stage, Mihai’s sound remains unmistakable. “He had it from the start,” says friend and agent Benny Grauer. “You always know when it’s Mihai. And it’s always on point.”
