Bio

Klangkuenstler’s techno is anchored in the hard, percussive records of the early 2000s, an influence he treats as more specific than the broad contemporary hard-techno tag. Based in Berlin, he moved toward that sound after an earlier period making house, finding a new direction through club and festival listening. His Outworld label gives the music a home, while the event series extends his involvement into sound, lighting and the layout of the room. At its centre is an all-night set that can move from reduced grooves and tribal rhythms into much tougher material, with room to build intensity gradually. He has described access around the booth and the absence of VIP divisions as essential to the experience. Productions such as Toter Schmetterling with Sant sit alongside that continuing conversation with older techno.
