Bio

&ME learned to build loops before he owned anything resembling a studio. As a teenager, André Boadu combined a loopable CD player with a cheap turntable, then moved from attempts at scratching and beatmatching to making beats in Magix Music Maker and Samplitude after discovering videos by the Invisibl Skratch Piklz. Hip-hop remained the common language when, during a production internship in a Kreuzberg studio in 2006, he met Rampa. That connection became part of Keinemusik, the Berlin label and collective founded in 2009 with Adam Port, Reznik and visual artist Monja Gentschow. In a 2021 interview, Boadu said he used classic hardware late in the process, valued the room and monitors most, and introduced distortion, noise and slight detuning so electronic parts felt lived-in. A groove passed his test when it could run for twenty minutes without losing its pull.
