Bio

In a 2011 interview, Animal Trainer recalled borrowing the duo’s name from an unrealised side project by one of Samy Jackson’s former bandmates. Jackson and Adrian Flavor had met while working around Zurich’s UG club, later the Hive, where exchanging favourite records led to friendship, the Rakete party series and, in 2006, a shared DJ identity. Production followed with “Talkshow” on Stil vor Talent in 2008. A later interview documented their different strengths: Jackson, who studied jazz, took the deeper studio role, while Flavor often worked at the front of the project; both still finished arrangements together. In that conversation they also singled out the Moog Voyager as a recurring colour in their tracks. Animal Trainer’s catalogue has since moved through house and melodic club music without losing the pair’s original social logic—a project built inside a local club community, then carried outward through records, touring and Rakete events.
