Kian Gast

The next solo EP on the label comes by way of French artist Kian Gast, an under-the-radar talent whose precise ear for slick techno production deserves praise and platform, making his debut on the label a perfect fit for the catalogue. 

Opening the A-Side is ‘Cerulean’, a track that evokes its title. Warm, elegant and nostalgic, it’s anchored on repeating synth stabs which eventually lead to an ethereal melody that adds a moment of moodiness to the arrangement. ‘Unseen’ takes a similar approach. With a solid, thumping low-end groove, the track moves through lush pads and introduces a melodic sequence and sparkling layers that take the listener through time and space. 

The B-Side ups the energy with a classic call-and-response techno tool in the form of ‘Sage’. With a galloping rhythm, its functionality is given an extra touch of finesse with warm pads that break the loopiness of the core elements. Closing out the EP is title track ‘Many Moons Ago’ that, like the previous track, does not shy away from impactful kick, bass and upfront drum programming. Similarly it uses melodic synth and pad-work to float the listener through moments of bliss and euphoria.
