House music at its best is often a deceptively simple-sounding affair. Although by no means is this an exercise in minimalism, ‘Unnnhhh’ manages to turn some jerky Chicago rhythms, a couple of quivering string noises and purring bass hook into something much greater than the sum of its parts. ‘Love Me Right’ pulls off the same trick with markedly different elements as warm pianos, groaning low end and funky stabs are worked to perfection above rolling beats. Both are classy pieces of house that forsake banging kicks or flashy tricks to build the energy in the groove.
