Hailing from the South Bronx, Djinji Brown has never been short of musical influences on his life. The son of the famed Free Jazz pioneer Marion Brown, Djinji grew up in the melting pot that was 80’s New York, with exposure to Hip Hop, Punk, Disco, Jazz, Latin and much more beyond. It is no wonder that his work combines his Latin and African dance roots perfectly with numerous other elements to create his own unique and personal musical world view. Having already released his album ‘Afro-Bionic’ on Yoruba back in 2008 Osunlade has now invited Djinji to take a dig through the Yoruba Records catalogue in order to deliver Volume 2 of the Yoruba Gold series.

With such a diverse catalogue available to work with Djinji has fused together tracks into a mix that reflects both the label and the man himself. Amongst the tracks included are Boddhi Satva’s ‘Medicine’, Frankie Feliciano’s rework of Nadirah Shakoor’s ‘Love Song’, Karizma’s remix of Teresa Jenee’s ‘Remember’, Atjazz’s dub of Santos ‘Time Of Our Lives’, alongside productions from label head Osunlade and Djinji himself.
