WHISPER invites listeners to graze the sonic pastures of his FUNNY FARM EP, within which await five tracks that foil the artist’s chosen name with their maximalist take on Drum & Bass. The FUNNY FARM EP further features collaborations with like-minded deviant artists FANATICS & OWLS OF FILTH that have recently found their own roosts within the OYO roster, marking WHISPER’s latest EP as a community affair driven by a love of off-kilter sounds shared by all who have gathered to create it. 

DO IT opens the EP in collaboration with FANATIC with its slasher film atmosphere dropping quickly into a chopped-up bassline that is sharpened by the track’s percussion in order to slice through listeners' ears with ease. RADIO then intercepts a series of garbled transmissions and warps them into a destructive sonic cacophony using the same synthesis methods with which those signals were first transmitted. After this, TAKE ME DOWN provides something of a reprieve in the moments of jilted melody that punctuate its arrangement between bursts of roaring bass. OWLS OF FILTH then join WHISPER for COME DOWN, a track imbued with a distinct sense of gravity that sees the entire arrangement hurtling downwards towards the sheer density of its low end. The EP closes with the finality of BLAME, which rolls out on a familiar breakbeat sample before ripping it from beneath the listener to send them tumbling one final time amidst the devastating waves of WHISPER’s brash & unrestrained sound. 

With the FUNNY FARM EP, WHISPER and his collaborators FANATICS & OWLS OF FILTH brook no quarter for the pastoral sounds that the EP’s title might first bring to mind. Instead, the group makes a mockery of that expectation, delivering five uniquely twisted tracks to OYO’s growing stable of strange sonic nightmares.
