XZS012 „Nemesis“ EP The time has come! Our label honcho Patrik Berg has finally prepared some new music for us. This time a 3 track EP “Nemesis” which shows once again what artistic freedom can show for facets. The title track "Nemesis" is a dark, melodic anthem that conveys dystopian vibes in a futuristic way. Special thanks to Sophie Perazzolo and her team who used „Nemesis“ in their fascinating short film "Twin Replicants", which was shown at the world-famous Berlin Fashion Film Festival. The typical Patrik Berg drums, pumped up to maximum phatness, combined with crunchy percussion and a circulating beat construct form the basic structure of the track. At the beginning soft pads build up and are replaced by a melodic riff sound, whose sound design is dystopian and special. Accompanied by undulating pads, arpeggios, and saw-like pads that creak and scratch as if they are about to enter into a final battle with their nemesis, counter melodies pour out for a finale that can only be described as epic and emotional. Track no. 2 is “Soulreaver”. An absolutely crazy pitch and grain delay synth that splinters into millions of little fragments at some moments is driven by a shaking, almost hyperventilating beat. The technological soundscape is accompanied by a deep hypnotic voice that seeks nothing less than your body, mind and soul. The whole thing is additionally pushed by a subtle yet aggressive reese pad and exciting delays and a 303 resonance stab in combination with cleverly programmed drum beats will suck even the most lazy raver onto the dance floor. The EP closes with the track “Out Of Tune”. This summer anthem unites 3 worlds of electronic music and deliberately focuses nostalgically on the past without losing sight of the present. UK breakbeat elements reminiscent of the golden era at the end of the 90s combined with strings and melodies inspired by old school westside Hip Hop from the US in a modern techno guise that Patrik Berg himself stands for. The main theme of this track is the contrast between the monster fat bass melody and the almost saintly delicate graceful strings that will stay in your head.
