The opening track ‘Distress’ sets the tone with a cavernous, rolling energy—dark, texturized, and deeply physical. Built on a driving low-end and minimalistic structure, each element locks in with precision, creating a brooding yet highly functional techno piece. From there, ‘Meeting in the Dark’ shifts into a dreamlike meditation, opening with soft padded atmospheres and robotic, Japanese vocals that gently guide the listener inward. Theres a taste of melancholy nestled within its rhythmic structure, a track that lingers more like a moment than a motif. ‘Warmth & Sentiment’ takes that emotional tension and stretches it across a broader dancefloor context—still dreamy, but now more grounded and diverse in its expression, offering a powerful follow-up that expands the EP’s scope. Finally, ‘Dissolve’ arrives as a perfect closer: majestic pads open the piece, slowly lifted by a faded broken beat, until a ghostly vocal emerges, carrying the whole to its emotional peak. With a Burial-esque sensibility and a DnB-influenced pulse, it ties together the narrative arc with depth and closure. ‘Voltage & Memory’ explores emotion and atmosphere—an EP that moves with intention, opening up new dimensions within Ben Reymann’s ever-growing catalogue.
