The Munich-based label Plattenbank, led by Guy Manzur, presents a striking two- track release that brings together an unexpected artistic collaboration. While ECHO DAFT has previously contributed to Plattenbank with tracks on the fifth and ninth editions of the labels bestselling compilation, Secrets, this marks the first official release showcasing his studio partnership with Kebin Van Reeken. Both artists have built strong international followings, and their combined efforts have resulted in a seamlessly crafted 17-minute sonic journey that could stand as one of the creative high points in their careers. The opening track, Years of Ascent, sets the tone with a hypnotic groove and distinctive percussion, stirring deep-seated memories and invoking instinctive movement reminiscent of ancient ceremonial dances. At the same time, its refined production techniques ensure an immersive experience, whether played through massive festival sound systems or in more intimate club settings. The arrangement builds subtly, reaching a peak just before the fifth minute, where the musical vision converges with resonant feedback that energizes any dance floor. The second track, Mysterious Drag, extends the mood but shifts the focus toward an infectious melody. It takes center stage, gradually emerging from the background, shaping the emotional arc, and culminating in a euphoric peak designed for maximum dance-floor impact.
