Kutlo

Anna Vaverkova

The waves produced by Slovak producer Kutlo have gone silent for some time until he recently came back with three hot spikes in quick succession. First came the Vision Radio feature: Reboot in collaboration with Liveon on Blackout Music series Evolutions and right after that a contribution to the Hoofbeats Family LP and 10 years of Kosen LP – „Mecha Bark“ and „Blood Pulse“, both of the techier and more straightforward songs which closes the initial sequence of tracks on the mentioned records. Following the success of three heavy hitting tracks Kutlo turns down the heat a little and releases a single with a vocalist he has worked with before on Up & Down - Anna Vaverková.

Anna Vaverková is an aspiring singer-songwriter who is no stranger to drum & bass and bass music in general, having worked with Kutlo before as well as Furios Freaks, Meph or Volatile Cycle. Currently residing in Berlin she recently released a long playing album with The Flavians, a 60s inspired band formed by expats in a hostel. Releasing under her own name, with her band and with various electronic producers she covers a wide range of genres and moods, perfecting and widening her skill set concurrently.

Porcelain is the first single coming from Kutlo's new EP Variations soon to be released on Hoofbeats Music. Having released on the label before both as part of a compilation and on his own single an entire EP was bound to happen.

The track itself starts off slowly, with a calm and floating synth, soon joined by Anna's soothing voice. While other musical elements pile up the bass slowly rises and is suddenly replaced by the lead synth resembling a hopeful horn coming from distance. While that would suffice for most liquid songs, this is not one of them and the drop evolves with a couple sneaky appearances of a reese bass.

Taking inspiration from emotionally driven electronica and merging it with our beloved broken beat of Drum & Bass, this tune sets up the new direction of Kutlo's production style and musical career.
