Jenson Interceptor’s label International Chrome continues its mission to introduce the best new artists with the release of Last Local Hero by Scotland’s Ten Years Lost via its Data Planet cassette series.

Hailing from Glasgow, a city that boasts a densely packed music scene for its size, Ten Years Lost masterfully blends genres from Detroit electro to Memphis rap. 
The latter’s influence can be heard most clearly in opening track Daftys (Bustaz) where the producer adds vocals in his own thick Glaswegian accent over a track that brings to mind the minimalism of tracks like DJ Spanish Fly’s Slangin Caine.

From here the LP heads into deeper and darker territory with serious 808 aquatic dance where tracks like Threadz and Cancel Culture hit hard alongside cuts like Kill Yr Heroes and Don’t Call The Cops which retain the hip hop influences.

On the release, Jensen Interceptor says “I don’t think I’ve heard anyone infuse my two biggest influences, Memphis rap & Drexciya, quite like the way TYL does, and does it flawlessly. I listened to it 10 times over from the first play.”

Closing off the record, Brazil’s White Prata remixes Cancel Culture into a thundering acid techno track that is almost the dictionary definition of “a facemelter”.
