Boxcutter

Oak's 'No Sunrise' assembles nine rediscovered tracks from Oak’s early Microfunk era — works that slipped between releases, vanished with old labels or lived on only in rumours. Most of the material traces back to around 2009, when Oak’s detailed, cinematic approach to drum and bass and forward-thinking electronic music quietly shaped the movement’s foundations.

The collection folds in some of Oak’s most whispered-about works: Boxcutter’s rare remix, the alternate Firebird version and the long-mystified title track No Sunrise, known until now only from Commix’s Fabriclive mix. Alongside them sits Untold, written years later — darker than the rest, driven by thick low-end pressure and a murky halfstep groove wrapped in deep, dub-soaked atmosphere. A long-hidden chapter of Oak’s work finally made visible.
