2011 saw the long overdue of release of the first Inner City material since 1996. Kevin Saunderson, Ann Saunderson and Paris Grey combining with Detroit legend Kenny Larkin and Orlando Voorn to create ‘Future’.  A devastatingly catchy and highly emotional track, exhibiting all the soulful flavours and qualities you would expect from these celebrated producers and singers. It was Kenny Larkin’s own remix though that was the one to drop, beautifully reworking the original into a techno infused monster with more thump than a right hook from Sugar Ray Robinson.

With the success of the single, remixes were undeniable! Carl Craig (yes…Carl Craig!!) takes the original Deep See Sound System Mix and re-edits it into his own personal style. MK, Kevin’s original protégée, does exactly what MK does best, finding a hook in the vocal, chopping and looping until you can take no more, then unleashing the full vocal over a hypnotic bass bump. James Talk was such a fan of Kenny Larkin’s mix that he subtly re-edited it to perfectly into a house DJs set whilst still maintaining the essence of Kenny’s version. Finally DJ Chus provides that Iberican flavour to the track that will no doubt sit perfectly in the sets of those spinning in Miami and throughout the forthcoming Ibiza season.

Dit is een plek waar opkomende producers vanzelf naast gevestigde artiesten staan, en waar underground releases dezelfde aandacht krijgen als tracks van grote labels. De eerste 24 uur nadat je track online staat zijn echt cruciaal—dan kijkt het algoritme mee. Of het nu Volumo, YouTube of Instagram is, die eerste piek aan weergaven, opslaan, delen en interactie laat het platform weten: ‘Deze moet gepusht worden.’ Als je meteen je fans, vrienden en netwerk mobiliseert, maak je meer kans op een plek in algoritmische playlists of extra zichtbaarheid. Dus upload niet alleen, maar zorg dat je content klaar hebt, stuur je mailinglijst aan en wees actief in de reacties. Die eerste dag bepaalt de toon van je hele releasecyclus.
