Every artist leaves a mark, and Mihai Popoviciu’s is unmistakable. For almost two decades, the Romanian producer and DJ has crafted a signature style—deep, hypnotic grooves, pinpoint precision, and an energy that commands the dancefloor.
Growing up in Sibiu (Romania), a city far removed from Europe’s electronic epicenters, Mihai’s passion for house and techno was born in isolation. The ‘90s saw London, Berlin, and Ibiza booming with dance music, while he was left scavenging for whatever sounds he could find. “We’d record German TV shows onto cassette and play them on repeat,” he recalls.

With no club scene in sight, Mihai’s DJ dreams seemed like a long shot. “I couldn’t DJ because there were no clubs,” he laughs. But software was within reach, so he made music. Refining his sound track after track, in 2005, his music found a home on International Deejay Gigolo. From there, he became a fixture on labels like Highgrade, Poker Flat, Bondage Music, Berg Audio, and his own imprint, Cyclic, founded in 2012.

Patience and persistence paid off. Once purely a producer, Mihai soon stepped behind the decks, learning the art of DJing on borrowed turntables. His transition from the studio to the club was seamless. Soon, the world took notice. Over the past decade, Mihai Popoviciu has solidified his status as a leading figure in the electronic music scene. Now, his name graces the lineups of the most revered clubs and festivals worldwide.

Mihai’s mission is simple: to share the joy and energy that fuel his passion. “Seeing people dance, smile, and lose themselves in the music—that’s what it’s all about.”

Whether commanding an underground club or a festival stage, Mihai’s sound remains unmistakable. “He had it from the start,” says friend and agent Benny Grauer. “You always know when it’s Mihai. And it’s always on point.”

The jury is in, and the likes of Guy J, Sasha, industry media and an exponentially growing fan base across the globe unequivocally agree; Khen is next big thing to come out of the dance music hot bed that is Israel.

He saw his international breakthrough on the scene in 2016 when he released his critically acclaimed debut album ”One Day of Independence” on Guy J’s Lost & Found. The LP saw support from the likes of Pete Tong, Noir, Dubfire, Joris Voorn, Hernan Cattaneo, Jeremy Olander and Paco Osuna. It climbed the Beatport charts and made the coveted number 1 spot on the overall releases chart in mere days.

Since then, Khen has solidified himself as a globally touring artist with key shows at Tomorrowland, a debut tour in Japan, sold out legendary The Bow in Buenos Aires and BNP in Cordoba, released a remix for Nick Muir on Bedrock, put out a debut EP project on Anjunadeep with support from Kollektiv Turmstrasse, John Digweed, Guy J, Edu Imbernon, Cassian, Hernan Cattaneo and many more.

He’s also been on the receiving end of Infinite praise from industry institutions such as DJ Mag and Mixmag. Dancing Astronaut named him an ”Artist to Watch” alongside Yotto, ANNA and Enrico Sangiuliani. Mixmag opted to feature him in their “Impact” segment that highlights high momentum talent and has previously played host to budding superstars Lauren Lo Song, Cristoph, Peggy Gou and Julia Govor.

As one of the underground’s most requested remixers he has well over a 200 tracks to his name and remixes for Danny Tenaglia, Nina Kraviz, Steve Lawler, Damian Lazarus, Monika Kruse, Chus & Ceballos, DJ Sneak or Deadmau5, to name a few. Bringing his African ethnic roots together with his good Italian taste, Tamango Records boss Yaya is one of the hottest names in the electronic music scene. Yaya grew up in Turin, where the tunes of his father - percussionist and leading voice of the “M’bamina” ensemble - helped him to discover his inner sense of rhythm, thus starting his relationship with music at an early age and performing as a drummer around the city. Since joining the mighty Desolat family back in 2009, he never stopped moving between the biggest meccas of European electronic music, playing at the best clubs and festivals from all over the world. Besides his unique DJ sets, Yaya is also a prolific producer: after releasing on some of the most respected underground labels, he went on and in 2016 founded his own imprint Tamango Records which has seen names from the likes of Loco Dice, Enzo Siragusa, Cuartero, Manda Moor, Mason Collective, Fleur Shore, Sidney Charles, Toman, Rich NxT and S.A.M. to name a few.
