Bio

Lead singer and guitarist Joe Hutchinson comes from a long lineage of music. A native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, he is a descendant of the Hutchinson Family Singers, a family who in the middle of the 19th century spoke out against slavery through song. In the mid-nineties, Hutch released a series of EPs and toured with the Hutchinsons throughout the United States, opening for Tonic, and Debbie Gibson among others. In 1999, his first solo EP Hutch was released, Joe appeared on Food TV's Food Nation and more touring ensued. In 2002, after being signed to Smile Records, Hutch regrouped, adding Exies drummer Thom Sullivan. The group also released Turn It Around in 2002 and toured in support of the album. The band has also included ex-members of Imperial Drag and Young Dubliners at times, and has appeared with the Proclaimers, Elliott Smith, and the Smithereens. The group also co-wrote a song with former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar called "Not 4 Sale."
