Bio

Sub Basics is the production and DJ name of Tom Wood, whose music connects dubstep's low-end weight with dub techno, house and broken rhythms. Through Temple of Sound and Maneuver, he has created outlets for a practice that moves freely between tempos while retaining a strong soundsystem focus. Early influences include Mala, Coki, 2562 and Martyn, and his records have appeared on labels including Infernal Sounds, Animalia and Tar Hallow. Collaboration is another important strand, from work with Headland and Geode to the SBWT partnership with Witch Trials. His sets can also function as extended presentations of studio work: a February 2026 NTS broadcast with Ethics on the microphone consisted entirely of original productions, spanning two hours.
