Estiva makes melodic and progressive house that balances atmosphere with a clear sense of club movement. The Dutch producer Steven Baan has developed a close relationship with Colorize, using albums, remixes and the Colorscapes series to explore ideas beyond a single peak-time track. Releases on Enhanced, Anjunabeats and Armada sit alongside that work, while his own Potentially Dreaming label provides another creative outlet.
His performances have included Tomorrowland, Ultra, Creamfields and Dreamstate, as well as tours with Colorize. Records such as Infinita and Embrace give the studio side of that career a longer form, bringing vocal collaborators and more introspective passages into the music.
For Embrace, he also returned to clubs as a listener. Experiencing records from the dancefloor changed how he thought about pacing and energy, feeding directly into his writing. It reflects an approach in which producing, DJing and simply being in the crowd continue to inform one another.
