David Keno likes one unruly element to escape the computer. The Swiss-born, Berlin-based producer has described patching a modular system for accidents, sequencing it by hand and sometimes driving an entire drum bus through a Roland Space Echo for its overdriven colour. That tactile instinct began with guitar and drums at twelve, continued through rock bands and eventually moved into house and techno. Keno started releasing vinyl in 2004 and founded Keno Records soon afterward because his music did not fit comfortably elsewhere; what began as a personal playground developed into a label for a wider circle of artists. His own catalogue has travelled through Toolroom, Relief, Suara, Mother and Katermukke while repeatedly returning to collaborations with Dalson. Their relationship produced records for Toolroom, Formatik and Plastic City, then the 2025 track Paris Syndrome on Keno Records. Across live sets and studio work, melody remains present, but curiosity—not a fixed genre formula—drives the project.
