Bio

Toman’s first drum kit was improvised from his mother’s pots and pans. The Dutch producer began playing drums at five, studied the instrument for seven years and later taught himself to make old-school hip-hop beats before a teenage club experience redirected him toward house. Training at the Herman Brood Academy gave him a community of electronic musicians and helped him focus his sound; moving from Alphen aan den Rijn to Amsterdam placed him close to the PIV and No Art circles that became important to his early releases. Percussion remains the bridge between those stages. Toman records with Ableton and Push, but has also used a MIDI drum kit, Prophet-5, TB-03 and Digitakt to bring physical performance back into the process. In 2025 he launched High Ceilings, extending his work from producer to label curator. His tracks pair rolling bass and crisp drums with chords, pads and flashes of jazz-minded warmth.
