Bio

Bes dates the arrival of drum and bass in Russia to UK vinyl imported from 1998 and 1999, and the start of an actual scene to around 2001. One half of the duo Gydra, he remembers copies scarce enough to be treated like gold, and credits the handful of labels that made the crossing, Metalheadz and Renegade Hardware among them, with setting what Russian producers thought drum and bass was; by his account the local version came out harder than its sources. He has spent as much time on the scene's infrastructure as on his own records, launching the Neuropunk podcast in 2008 as a run of mixes and adding his own commentary on the musicians a year later. He says he closed TAM Records once its purpose was served and started Neuropunk Records with Garud of Teddy Killerz. Gydra releases through Eatbrain.
