Percussion is not decoration in Traumer’s music; it is the engine. In a 2017 interview, French producer Romain Reynaud described drums and percussion as the most important part of a track for him. That priority links the taut techno of his earlier work to the elastic, finely detailed house he now makes as Traumer. Reynaud has used separate aliases to give different instincts room to develop: Roman Poncet for techno, Marion Poncet for house, and Traumer for the minimal-leaning grooves that found a home on his Gettraum imprint. He has also worked within the Möd3rn project and alongside DJ Deep. Rather than treating these names as disconnected careers, Reynaud uses them like distinct lenses, each bringing another rhythmic idea into focus. Traumer is where patient repetition, odd vocal fragments and carefully weighted drums become a conversation with the dancefloor.
