Makin' Moves was set up in the Summer 2012, a new music and events company set up by Matt Langrish-Smith and Jamesey D. Makin' Moves nurtures up and coming talent, aswell as collaborating with established names. Matt has a wealth of experience under his belt having previously worked for dance independents Papa Records and Tribe Records UK, an internationally acclaimed label and events company. Jamesey, along with hosting his own radio show on www.housefm.net since 2004, has been an essential cog in the wheel of London's soulful & deep house scene, independently performing at most of the major parties in London swell as guest spots abroad in Japan, New York and Dubai.

The label has seen a heavy output of quality releases this year from the likes of Dazzle Drums from Japan, DJ Fudge & Hallex M from Hong Kong and UK soul singer Omar, Gianluca Pighi & Massimo Paramour from Italy and Tiger Wilson from New York

Makin Moves

From the very beginning it was planned that Peppermint Jam would remain an independently-distributed label as German distributors, at that time, were more focused on techno and trance, leaving vocal house largely untouched. The turning point, however, was the year 1996 – and Peppermint Jam’s first visit to the Winter Music Conference in Miami (an important international trade fair for electronic music). This milestone in the company’s history resulted in license enquiries from labels such as MAW as well as international collaborations. After their first self-produced releases, the label signed Ruffneck and “Everybody be Somebody” became their first real hit, soon followed by Boris Dlugosch’s “Keep Pushin” and “Hold Your Head Up High” (both featuring Inaya Day).

A key track in the label’s hugely successful 18 year history was, of course, 1998’s worldwide smash hit, ‘Horny.’

“A proper accident,” chuckles Mousse T. “The backing track grew out of the club version of a Michael Jackson remix I had done for his song “Ghost.” I had the beats and the groove and finished the production around 5 in the morning. I wanted to put it in the bin but when I played it Errol and Roger Sanchez they said “you have to put it out”. We called it “Horny” because of the horns and then wrote the lyrics around that. The result changed our lives.”

On the back of the song’s success, the label’s increased revenue and profile attracted some high profile collaborations, including the classic Boris Dlugosch rework of ‘Sing It Back’ by Moloko, and the infamous ‘Sex Bomb,’ featuring Tom Jones (a UK Top 3 smash). “Success allowed a bigger vision,” says Mousse T.

New Generation Records is an Indie House Music label based out of New Jersey USA Started With Mike LaBirt, Larry LaBirt, Larry P.Rauson, Joe Ruvolo, Ricci & Jerry Melillo in 1987 Kevin Oliphant Came on later. We started off with the very Successful DJ's On Vinyl Series which sold thousands of copies we could not keep up with the demand. The first DJ's On Vinyl vol.1 Featuring Larry P Rauson Larry LaBirt "Oh Larry" was played By Legendary DJ Larry Levan. DJ Tony Humphries was an early supporter of our music. We used to bring him reel to reels and he would play them at Zanzibar. Kevin O took over at Zanzibar so we started to bring him Reels to play, that's when he joined the New Generation Records team. New Generation Records has been putting out House music for over 30 years. One of the longest-running Indie House labels In New Jersey That's still putting out new music! Good Vibrations began its life as an event when founder ‘Sean McCabe’ moved to Bristol in 2012 making his mark on the scene with a short-lived series of all-dayers at ‘The White Bear’ in Clifton.

Alongside local legend Deli-G, they have now established a strong foundation and following at Easton favourite pub ‘The Plough Inn’, playing quality soulful dance music from across the board.

In 2016, Sean took the next step in evolving the brand by setting up his own imprint under the ‘Good Vibrations Music’ moniker with a pursuit of releasing quality soulful dance music.

The label operates as an outlet for Sean’s in house productions, as well as putting out un-heard music he believes in from his friends and collaborators such as Black Sonix, Hannah Khemoh, Mike City, Lem Springteen, and Harold Matthews Jr.

Since then Good Vibrations has also released remixes from firm favourites like Louie Vega, Frankie Feliciano, IG Culture, Groove Assassin, Jovonn and 95 North.

Both the label and event specialises in playing and releasing dance music genres rooted in soul, jazz, electronic, African, broken beat, disco, hip-hop, latin influences.

In 2020 during the first year of the pandemic with gigs freezing up, McCabe started his own monthly ‘Good Vibrations Mixshow’ as a channel for playing all the music he was collecting and continues to today.

‘Good Vibrations Music’ is distributed by MN2S Label Services (Digital) and Prime Direct Distribution (Vinyl).

Good Vibrations Music

Founded in 2004, the simple principal was delivering the funk with engaging music that always rocks the dance floors, regardless of genre. Started by two of the label's key artists, Mooqee & Beatvandals, each release had to be a bomb! This ethos continued throughout the initial vinyl based volume series and as the label evolved alongside the changing digital landscape, helping to develop a global funk and mid tempo scene along the way.

It's crazy to think how much the label has grown and now works with artists and partners from around the globe. Alongside individual artist releases Bombstrike is also home to the much loved Funk n' Beats, Disco Funkin' and Bass Funk compilation series, with guest curators helping the listener discover new music or unearth forgotten classics.

We continue to push things forward with everything we do, whether it is releases, festival stages or club nights....We always do it with our same founding ideals and will continue to do what we do best. Watch this space.
