Biografia
Hotmood’s disco feel comes from a musician who learned rhythm with his hands as well as behind turntables. Guadalajara-born Guillermo Santana began DJing and playing percussion in 1993, carrying funk, jazz and soul records into his sets long before adopting the Hotmood name. He started producing as Billy El Niño around 2010, then relaunched as Hotmood in 2016; an early vinyl EP for Star Creature helped establish the new identity. His tracks favour supple bass, Afro-Latin percussion, slow-boogie swing and the warmth of 1970s funk, recut for contemporary house floors. Santana also runs Discoweey, an independent outlet for disco, house, edits and rare grooves.
