Flowidus make drum and bass around melody, shared energy and the experience of hearing music together. Raphael and Garo developed the duo after working separately as Spillage and Dealt Fairly, exchanging ideas following a meeting at a gig. Both came from musical backgrounds: Raphael grew up performing kapa haka and around his siblings’ bands, while Garo’s listening moved through trance before drum and bass. Their partnership rests on exchanging stems and testing ideas against a second opinion, rather than dividing the music into fixed individual roles. After releases with RAM and Liquicity, they joined Friction’s Elevate in 2018, finding a home for their melodic approach. Collaborations including “By Your Side” with Friction and Raphaella and “Keep Me Waiting” with Midnite Amity sit alongside their own productions. The project’s Perth base connects a partnership whose members also work across Australia and New Zealand.
